Our independent patent attorney’s office has been in Schleswig-Holstein’s state capital of Kiel for more than 30 years. Although operating under various names in the past, during this time the Kiel office has always maintained its independence as an owner-managed patent law firm.

This is the spirit in which we operate the office founded by Dr. Jan Tönnies and are ready to assist you in all industrial property rights issues.

lbmr Patent- und Markenrecht in particular handles the processing of trademark, design and patent applications and represents clients in examination, opposition, appeal and nullity proceedings before the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA), Federal Patent Court (BPatG), European Patent Office (EPO), and European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). We also produce patent attorney expert opinions and advise in conducting due diligence procedures.

We work in a broad range of technical fields, including renewable energies (in particular wind energy technology and biogas plants), water treatment, medical technology, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, marine engineering, locking technology, vehicle engineering, electrical engineering, and sewage pipe inspection/rehabilitation.

Dr. Lobemeier studied biology and microbiology at Christian-Albrechts-Universität (Kiel University) in Kiel. His scientific work was in the effect of insecticides on neuronal development of nerve systems and research into LDL receptor activity of various vertebrates.

Before entering the patent attorney profession he worked in a northern German plant breeding company, a public technology transfer institution, and a university patent exploitation agency. He has worked in the Kiel patent attorney’s office since 2003, as a partner since 2007.

Dr. Lobemeier is a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi) and the German Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright (GRUR) and is an assistant lecturer at Kiel University.

Dr. Lobemeier studied biology and microbiology at the University of Kiel. His research focused on the influence of insecticides on the neuronal development of nervous systems and the LDL-receptor activity of various vertebrates.

Before becoming a patent attorney, he worked for an industrial nursery in northern Germany, a public technology transfer agency, and a university patent office. He has been with the firm since 2003 and was named a partner in 2007.

Dr. Lobemeier is an accredited representative and member of the Institute of the European Patent Office (epi), the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), and a lecturer at the University of Kiel.
